Stomach virus is not good times

Most of you know by now, but I’ve been out of commission the past couple days.  I’ll save you the grizzly details, but I spent the better part of the past 2 days and nights in bed, quarantined from the fam in order to stop the virus in its tracks.  It started the end of last week with Jaden puking outside of the auditorium where Payton’s school held its holiday show.  2 days later, I felt his pain.  I literally shut my self off from the outside world.  Didn’t check email, Facebook, Twitter, nothing.  If it wasn’t on the TV in my bedroom, it didn’t happen.

Sex vs. the Internet

I heard one ironic stat while in my fever induced fog.  From CNN Nearly half of women would forgo sex for two weeks rather than give up their internet access, while only 30 percent of men would do the same.  I’m flabbergasted by these numbers.  Albeit, I was sick, and didn’t have the energy for either, I missed being in bed with Paige.  Last night, for the first night in the last 3, she felt safe in joining me in our bed.  After I had showered twice, changed the linens, sprayed every square inch of our bedroom and bathroom with Lysol, of course.  On the other hand, I didn’t yearn to jump right to my laptop.

Time Warner blows

Looking to get out from under the giant thumb that is Time Warner.  After looking at the few alternatives, I think we are going to go with Dish Network for our television and Earthlink for our internet.  These may not be the “best” alternatives for either, but for our needs (read – finances), these seem to be our best fit.  If you have any horror stories about either, please share.

For Sale

Along the same lines, yes, finances again, I have found a couple things lying around I could stand to part with, for a minimal fee, of course.

Paige is on Holiday break

Although this last semester started out a little shaky.  Statistics and Psychology, she finished very strong.  Had her Stats exam last Thursday and her Psych exam last night.  She did great in both.  Hopes to pull a B in both classes.  I’m so proud of her.  She doubts herself sometimes, but I always knew she’d do it.  Seeing the relief on her face has lightened the whole house.  She actually said the other day while watching Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee on The Food Network, “I think I’m actually getting into the Holiday spirit”.  Wow, never thought I’d hear her say that.  Don’t get me wrong, she loves the friends, the family, the egg nog, but never been much for the “holiday spirit”.  I’m looking forward to what the next few weeks has to offer.

Holidays right around the corner.

We’ve started some of our Christmas shopping.  Granted, it’s a much leaner Christmas this year, all the way around.  Where in past years we’ve freely exchanged gifts with friends, friends children, extended family, etc.  This year, we’re strictly sticking to our children, and very very close friends.  Paige and I aren’t even planning to exchange gifts.  I know, I know.  I’ve been married long enough.  😉  Here’s to a prosperous year so we can get back to the good old days of buying useless gifts to all the ones we love, just because we can.

Most of you also know that on top of my “real” job, I’m a freelance web developer.  Here’s a generic ad for my services.  If you or anyone you know needs some web work.  Please give me a call.  (see above).

Happy Holidays!
